One of the best Russian saxophone players and jazz composers, Oleg Kireyev, will preform with his band in Rovinj on 25 August. This internationally acclaimed artist is known for his unique musical language that combines traditional swing, Bashkir guttural singing, Moldavian tunes, African rhythms and improvisational jazz. The concert venue is the newly-opened Night Club Lone.
Oleg Kireyev is a first-rate musician and a powerful jazz popularizer. Growing up in Bashkiria, Kireyev picked up great interest in folk music. In the early 1990’s he spent three years in Poland where he played with members of the Miles Davis rhythm section and encountered European jazz.
Oleg Kireyev’s unique musical language, a result of different influences, was introduced to the USA in 2008 with his Mandala album release of Feng Shui Theatre, a band that was the first Grammy nominee from Russia ever.
