“Loved Rovinj”
TrueBird28, Birmingham, Jan 31, 2009
My boyfriend and I wanted to visit somewhere in Europe that was a bit different to all holidays we had previously had. Croatia & Rovinj seemed like the ideal place for us so we jetted off for a week in August. When we arrived we were not disapointed with scenery, food, people and the hotel.
We normally go on self catering holidays so were pleasently surprised with the food on offer in the hotel, although we did eat out three nights to sample the local restaurants. All the food on offer was as you would get in other european countries, but it was of a higer standard. An evening meal costs about £50 a couple, including wine and we thought this was a very good price, in view of the food we were served. Some of the resturants on the hill to the left as you step off the boat have amazing views and sunsets while you eat.
The hotel was clean, tidy and as expected. Being on its own island made it feel more special, there are no shops however so if you want to pop out for something you are restricted.
Rovinj is a beautifal place and gives many parts of Italy a run for its money. I would definaltey recommend this area and hotel to anyone if you want somehing a bit different.
“The best holiday we have had”
Itaintalfhotmum, UK, Oct 3, 2009
I'll keep it simple: Excellent hotel, rooms perfectly adequate and clean, if a little on the small side, good facilities, unique location, good food from the buffet considering the large number of guests. Rovinj is small wonder, beautiful clean winding streets to just amble away the hours in, friendly people, gorgeous sunsets, ample shops and numerous places to eat & drink. […] September is ideal if you don't want to fight the crowds, the weather was fantastic and the sea still warm and crystal clear.
We did several trips, all were good, Rijeka and Opatija are worth checking out if you want a bit more hussle & bussle.
Istria really has everything you could ever want for a memorable holiday- you will not be dissapointed with Croatia.
“Stunning”
AJCluedo, West Sussex, Sep 10, 2009
Just returned from a weeks stay.Booked via Thomson Holidays .Flight very quick 1 hr 50mins-Pula Airport fine small and easy to pass through bagge etc.Transfer from airport took 40mins then straight on ferry boat to Private Island.Very impressed with quickness of transfer. […] Ferry boat is brilliant..what a start to the holiday.10 mins ride to island taking in the views of the main land. The first views impression of Rovinj are stunning..crystal clear sea and beautiful venetian style buildings with loads of fishing boats bobbing in the harbour.
Arrived and checked in once again quick to hotel.Very modern clean rooms. All seem to have sea view. Hotel itself very modern and clean. Lots of different bars. Best bar is Captains Club which is at the front of the hotel.Make sure you sit at one of the tables in the rocks just before the sun sets, absolute fantastic sunsets from this point.
Nice Pizza restaurant within hotel grounds -cheap little place for lunch pizzas are big so one between two works and they are about £5.00 each so cheap lunch.
The beer prices are not too bad at the hotel if you go for the local brew.I found this to be very good and at only £2.50 a litre a lot cheaper then a pint a lager at pubs/hotels in the UK .
You do actually get free local red /white wine and beer with dinner. This is at the buffet restaurant and all are on tap where you help yourself. The food variety in the buffet restaurant was great always three choices of fresh fish and three of meat dishes.Very impressed with fish selection.
Breakfast good- bacon eggs sausages cereals hot criossants fresh bread rolls continental cheeses and hams-varied selection.
Plenty of places to sit and sunbathe on little stoney beaches and by the three pools.Sea is great for snorkaling.
Rovinj itself great for exploring the little cobbled streets.Pleanty of decent cafes and bars here.A coffee works out to be just under £1.00.Ice creams are yummy and loads of different flavours about 80p a scoop. […]
First time to Croatia and have fallen in love with its beauty. So unspoilt and just heavenly!!!
Will go back to hotel again..top class.
“Magical Rovinj - great Hotel Istra”
achel_Willowslea, Worcester UK, Aug 19, 2009
We were visiting Rovinj for the second time (last time at the great Hotel Park, but we thought we would have a change!)
The Hotel Istra combines excellent facilities, yet something special too. It is a large hotel but they cope so well with the numbers - buffet meals work well - the food and choice is amazing - a choice of three fish dishes every night, in additional to meat dishes and local cuisine (do try the lambs liver!!) - you can have as much or as little as you want and as for the mountain of fruit.....!! Free red and white wine or a choice of two beers, plus soft drinks and water complement the meal, though the red is cooled!!! For those with children this is all perfect.
One evening during your stay you can book into La Laterna, the special A La Carte restaurant, the meal is free though you do have to have to pay for drinks there - it is fabulous, the service is excellent and two musicians played and sang for us - a great Anniversary evening for us.
Facilities for couples and families are excellent - three pools, I tried one - perfect, and on the island recreational/water facilities some at an extra charge. There is a spa - indoor pool, hairdressers etc - though we didn't take advantage of those.
There were children in the hotel, but as a couple at no point did we find them intrusive, there are plenty of spots to sit, relax and enjoy the sun and views!!
We took no trips this time, but loved our boat trips to the mainland, Rovinj - the boat is great, the journey lovely - it is free and goes every hour and takes 15 wonderful minutes, it drops off at two points in Rovinj, by the Dolphin (Delfin) roundabout, not far from the Park Hotel and further round, near the centre - it is quite random which one they stop off at first - sometimes we went twice during the day and in the evening. On arrival, Thompson's our tour operator had hired a boat to take us to the island, to save us having to wait for the usual boat, on arrival on the island, the hotel have special luggage buggies to drive the luggage to reception - all you have to do is stroll up and book in! There are plenty of lifts, but the glass lift, looking out to sea was lovely.
[…] Lastly it is great to reflect on how pollution free this is, very little traffic allowed into the centre of Rovinj and nothing really other than the odd delivery van ferried over to the island.
So do ave a wonderful holiday!!
“Paradise Island”
LeighBlossom, Leigh, Jul 10, 2009
When we arrived we couldnt believe how beutiful the island was. It is stunning with little coves all around and the clearest blue sea. The Hotel is spotless, modern and it was so quiet we never heard anyone else at night for the whole week no doors banging or kids screaming!. Our teenage son even found things to do like shooting and archery. We took our snorkles and the sea is so clear you can see all the fish be careful of the rocks and buy some swim shoes which are about 50 kunas but well worth it.
The meal in the Lanterna is not to be missed it is as good as any 5 star resteraunt back home. The setting is perfect and the atmosphere is devine. The food was excellant as was the service we received. […]
The food in the resteraunt is ample and you can always find something to eat that is good the real benefit is the free drinks with your meal.
This hotel really is a stunning and beautiful place to stay and our second visit to Croatia.
The boat that takes you across to Rovinj can get a bit crowded as lots of day trippers come to the island to sunbathe so during the summer months that could be a bit of a problem. I think they should have a seperate boat for the hotel guests or at least let them on the boat first.
We stayed in Porec last year which is also very beautiful.
You must go up the winding streets to the church at the top the views are stunning and
the streets are beautiful.
If you want loud lager swilling Brits on holiday this is not for you but if you want culture, scenery, paradise, cleanliness, and an overall fantastic holiday this is the place to go!!
“Perfekte Lage und ein angenehmes Hotel”
Starshiptrooper77, München, May 26, 2009
“Imperdibile Rovigno”
An Expedia Traveler, Apr 27, 2009
Imperdibile la città di Rovigno. Assolutamente.
“bellissima vacanza”
superquarzo63, Pisa, Aug 17, 2009
L'albergo è veramente bello e pulito.

Hygiëne is gewoon uitmuntend.
