Second Rovinj Beach Polo Cup to be held 18-21 May

After the successful first tournament, this year’s Rovinj Beach Polo Cup brings numerous new features. This year, for the first time, citizens and guests of Rovinj will be able to follow the tournament matches – with an entertainment programme during the breaks – from the spectator zone in the polo arena. Since the number of registered polo teams has increased to six teams, with players from all over the world, the number of matches will be increased as well.

This year’s polo comes with a rich entertainment programme, particularly in the evenings, when the main star will be the former Spandau Ballet singer, Tony Hadley, who will perform a concert in EX TDR. There will also be a polo parade from the arena to the town centre this year, while the best restaurants in Rovinj will offer a special menu dedicated to the event.

Uwe Zimmerman, Rovinj has already been recognised as a luxury destination; it has the necessary infrastructure and capacity to host a tournament of that royal sport. We will repeat the last year’s procession of all participants to the town centre, as well as the great evening entertainment", said Zimmerman.

The Rovinj Beach Polo Cup places Rovinj and Croatia alongside top polo destinations such as Dubai, New York and Miami, contributing significantly to the recognisability of Rovinj as a luxury and elite destination. At the same time, the event results in an increase in the number of overnight stays in the period preceding the high season in accommodation facilities of the highest category – four-star and five-star hotels – and brings a great number of celebrities from Croatia and abroad to Rovinj.

“With strategic planning and continuous investment that will have reached 6130million Euro by 2019, the Adris Group and Maistra have enabled the conditions for organising and holding the most demanding sports and cultural events. Our aim is to position Rovinj as a desirable tourist destination in global tourism – particularly with regard to the organisation of top-quality sports events – and Maistra as the leading tourist company in Croatia. It is our pleasure to host Beach Polo Cup in Rovinj and to warmly greet all fans of polo this year as well”, said Tomislav Popović, member of the Management Board of the Adris Group and the president of the Management Board of Maistra.
