An oasis of calm in a magical forest

An oasis of calm in a magical forest

Visit Golden Cape forest park. Also known as Punta Corrente, the Golden Cape is one of the most significant nature parks in the northeast Adriatic. Only a 15-minute walk from the centre of Rovinj and spreading over an area of 52 hectares, the forest park hides a world of unbelievable diversity, numerous plant species and deep shade that provides cool shelter during the long summer days.

One of the most significant parks in the northeast Adriatic

Also known as Punta Corrente, this forest park is one of the most significant nature parks in the northeast Adriatic. It includes thousands of local and foreign plant species. Himalayan cedars planted to create the shape of a six-pointed star, cypresses and stone pines, meadows surrounded by Douglas firs, and exotic solitary cypresses create an impressive forest oasis.

The history of the park

The Golden Cape was first landscaped by Count Johann Georg Hütterott at the end of the 19th century. His wife’s pavilion and the forest ranger’s house have remained in the forest park to this day. There are also remnants of a small shipyard, old docks, a quarry, a drystone wall and a large perimeter wall that marked the border of the Count’s property. The Golden Cape was pronounced a special nature site in 1948, and in 1961 it was protected as a forest park.

Things to do in the Golden Cape

The Golden Cape is an ideal destination for both enthusiasts and professional athletes alike. Activities include walking, cycling and running, and for those who want to feel an adrenaline rush, there’s also free climbing.

Take a swim in the crystal-clear sea during the summer days. The rocky beaches are perfect for peaceful relaxation. Families with children can visit one of the many pebbly coves. Drop by one of our beach bars after your swim for refreshments.
